Made from deadstock menswear fabric ends from our friends at Epaulet, we used an assortment of Japanese Kuroki Floral Chambray, Italian Linens, and a beautiful Emerald tone Summer weight Wool Silk Suiting.
These bucket hats are produced by GTLA, one of the few female owned and vertically integrated factories in Los Angeles, CA. It's always a pleasure to be able to make everything locally when we can.
This new hat collection has an updated shape, a longer 2 3/4" wide brim, and is only made in size a hat 7 1/2 US due to the short yield of the fabric we got.
Hoping to get these new hats up by the weekend!
]]>I drew the design with the idea of a wrapped around paisley because when I think of bandanas I think paisleys naturally. And from there I started to dig deeper into the history of the design. The design spans it's inspiration from as far east as India, to the Middle East (Where's it's called a Boteh meaning a shrub or bush), and as far west as a town called Paisley in Scotland. Later on it became a staple in the swinging 60's psychedelic flower power movements and even the name of Prince's Estate Paisley Park.
After the history lesson I had to figure out my own intensions for the design and how I could relate it back to music. My first thought was that the smaller curl of the paisley reminded me of an embryo growing larger into adulthood before returning back to nothing and starting the cycle again. Following that I noticed the swirls were reminiscent of the energy of sound waves in music that come and go ever reoccurring. And that led to the name Rhythm and Cycles.
Going to it leave there for now since it's late so call it a Part 1. But more about the developing process and the making of in Part 2.

Sorry for the dust bowl silence between launch and the second blog post. It's been hard trying to manage a full time gig and trying to create something I feel that's missing in the market currently.
Good news though Plinth & Scratch logo pins are i̶n̶ ̶p̶r̶o̶d̶u̶c̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶w̶i̶l̶l̶ ̶b̶e̶ ̶c̶o̶m̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶2̶-̶3̶ ̶m̶o̶r̶e̶ ̶w̶e̶e̶k̶s̶ now actually available on the website. (Got delayed on this post too :/)
But let's get down to what Plinth & Scratch is really about as promised in the first blog post...deep breath...exhale....
Plinth & Scratch is the amalgamation of all my experience in the fashion industry and music (on the listening, standing, seated, dancing, jamming out at the 9-5 and collecting records level.) All of that set the foundation for what drives me forward in an industry that eats away at trends like a culture vultures feast...on a hot and dry summer day.
I choose music as the inspiration behind this brand because it's something I feel... I have to be honest with. I mean you can't deny when your feet are tapping and you your head is bobbing. It was instinct almost to create from something that I can't help but move to. But then you ask why bandanas to start? Well that might have to wait till the next time.
See you on the next blog post. (Sooner than later hopefully.) Don't forget to check your shoeless in foreign places and check out those logo pins.

Much love and peace to you all,So a little story about Plinth & Scratch is in order, since people have been probably seeing all those epic photos on Instagram. (If you haven't...well you should @plinthandscratch.) It all started with music...well specially vinyl records, vintage hi-fi, and dance. I also had a big year of going to concerts throughout 2014 to now. All those experiences along with really wanting a creative outlet for something that wasn't stifled by corporate agenda. But now you might ask why bandana's? Why a name like Plinth & Scratch? Well hang tight...I'll tell you tomorrow after I get some sleep.
Good night...I mean morning!
